Led by expert teachers. Built on real classroom practice.

Tutoring should change more than test scores. It should change how a child sees themselves.

For too long tutoring has let everybody down….

Students who work with tutors who lack classroom experience or a deep understanding of how children learn.
Children and parents who experience fragmented, one-size-fits-all tutoring, with no clear plan or continuity over time.
Parents who struggle to get clear answers, consistency, or accountability.
Tutors who aren’t supported, valued, or paid fairly — which ultimately affects the quality of teaching children receive.

At JoRoJack, parents are part of the process. Questions and moments of uncertainty are expected and welcomed. Parents have direct access to their child’s tutor and the wider JoRoJack team — including the founder when clarity or reassurance is needed — so concerns are talked through thoughtfully and clearly, without being passed around or ignored.

Children are encouraged to speak up too — to ask questions, share worries, and talk openly with their tutor when something doesn’t feel right.

Children deserve better.

Parents deserve better.

Teachers deserve better.

Because literacy changes everything — and every child deserves access to it, taught well.

We created JoRoJack — a new gold standard for online UK-based reading and writing tutors.

We’re not a marketplace. We’re an independent, education-first movement – built by teachers, not corporations.

We believe education should be driven by care – not commissions. Here to make a difference – not a margin. And we’re on a mission to raise the standard of literacy teaching – for good.

A New Standard
– offering the very best in online literacy teaching.

A gold standard
– that gives children quality literacy teaching that meets them exactly where they are, and supports teachers to be the amazing educators they are.

Why we created a
new tutoring platform

Reading and writing tutoring can make a real, seismic difference to a child’s education. But right now, there’s NO UK standard for literacy tutoring.

Yes, there’s a dizzying number of online tutors and platforms out there. But these come with varying attitudes towards qualifications, quality of lessons and teaching methods. All too often they overpromise to parents, underdeliver to students and exploit tutors.

Some hire fresh out of university students with no teaching qualifications. Have thousands of tutors on their books so use AI to allocate tutors. Take a disproportionate percentage of the tutor’s fees while giving no support or guidance. Send out generic responses to important questions. There are often random last-minute cancellations. No differentiation or tailored learning. No reliability, consistency or quality of care.

All this adds up to a poor experience for children, parents and tutors. So we created our own standard.

  • It’s teaching delivered by experienced educators who are intentionally hired.

  • It’s teaching that gets outstanding results.

  • It’s teaching delivered by experienced educators who are intentionally hired.

  • It’s teaching that teaches not just what to learn, but how to learn.

  • It’s teaching that’s grounded in social and emotional learning.

  • It’s teaching that teaches not just what to learn, but how to learn.

  • It’s not
using an algorithm to assign you a tutor.

    It’s not

setting a worksheet for your child to fill in over a 30 minute lesson.

    It’s not
    pointless games to fill time.

    It’s not
    one-size-fits-all lesson plans.

    It’s not
unreliable and under-qualified tutors. It’s not zero accountability.

    Our JOROJack values

Our values inform and drive JOROJack, and are steeped into everything do.

    education platform.

Our educators are qualified, trusted professionals who are intentionally hired for their experience and their passion.

  • 2

We blend the science of literacy with the craft of teaching.

Our lessons go beyond worksheets into proper teaching

  • 3

We work with what your child’s already being taught, not against it.

Because we know the UK curriculum inside out, we use our teaching to close any gaps and extend your child’s strengths.

  • 4

We use the best of evidence-based pedagogy to inform our teaching.

From John Hattie to Adrienne Gear, from Talk for Writing to UDL, our frameworks are tried, tested and robust.

  • 5

    We believe in
    shared responsibility.

Parents, teachers and students work together, with open and honest communication.

  • 6

We hold ourselves to the highest of standards.

We show up consistently, build trust with our students and parents, and teach with skill, purpose, strategy and heart.

  • 7

    We believe in
    kindness and respect.

This applies to everyone involved – parents, teachers and children.

  • 8

    We do more than teach
    reading and writing.

We transform how a child sees themselves as a learner. Because confidence, curiosity and communication aren’t just academic skills – they’re life skills. And it starts with literacy.

  • TEACH ONE to Reach one.

We believe every child who needs them should be able to access literacy lessons.

This is why we set up Teach One to Reach One as part of our mission – a community-powered fund to sponsor free lessons for those students who otherwise couldn’t afford them.

JOROJack was created by Jillian Gabriel, an international educator and literacy specialist with over a decade of experience in classrooms around the world.

After qualifying at the University of Victoria, she has taught at leading schools including Malvern College Tokyo and Malvern College Chengdu.

What drives her isn’t just teaching – it’s teaching well. The craft. The care. The unshakeable belief that every child should have a teacher who truly sees them.
Jill believes every child deserves the chance to become a confident reader and writer – and every parent deserves support they can count on.
