HOW WE TEACH ONLINE

Concerns about your child’s reading and writing progress can nag you during the day, and keep you up at night!

Why is my child still struggling to read?”

“Are they falling behind?”

“I’m worried this will affect their confidence forever.”

Neurodivergence, gaps in knowledge, moving schools, lack of engagement – all these are reasons why your child might not be reaching their full potential with reading and writing.

You want to find a reading and writing tutor who can help you.

But you want more than what the current online platforms are offering.

You want a teacher who knows their craft.
  • Who understands the UK curriculum inside out.

  • Who can teach your child in a holistic, personalised way that addresses all their needs.

  • Who makes lessons enjoyable and playful.

  • Who can support them to become the confident communicator you know they can be.

  • Welcome to

What we offer parents and children

JOROJack is the literacy support you’ve been looking for – teaching with clarity, connection and care.

We don’t just teach children what to learn – we teach them how to learn. Feedback, success criteria and deliberate practice are embedded into every lesson. This helps our students build confidence and resilience, and sets them up to become independent thinkers.

We also make reading and writing fun! Because if it’s not enjoyable, children switch off. We teach in a way that engages them, no matter where they’re starting from, and fosters a true love of literacy.

Our expert teachers adapt to every student and know exactly what they need to learn at each stage.

We spot gaps fast, adjust in real time and use inquiry with purpose. If it doesn’t move learning, we don’t waste time on it. But if it works for your child, we double down.

Differentiating is hard, which is why our teachers know their craft. Support isn’t bolted on at JOROJack – it’s embedded from the beginning. So EAL learners get visuals, sentence starters and oral practice. Children with ADHD get active learning strategies, choice in tasks and clear routines.

We also don’t treat parents like customers – you’re our partners. We’ll guide you, inform you and walk beside you, every step of the way.

We’re not the cheapest tutoring service out there. But we know you’re not asking for cheaper – you’re asking for better. And what we deliver is more than better – it’s the best.

Matching your child with the right teacher

Teaching starts with connection, not content

So the first thing we do is find the right teacher for your child. We don’t leave matching to chance or throw families into a directory to fend for themselves.

Every JOROJack student is personally matched with a qualified teacher based on their age, learning needs, personality fit and scheduling needs. And if the first match isn’t right? We fix it – fast and without fuss.

    The foundations
    of our teaching

We build our instruction around what’s proven to work best, not the latest fad. Our teaching uses evidence-led frameworks including:

    Lisa Delpit’s warm-demanding pedagogy

    Doug Lemov’s practical teaching techniques

    Universal Design for Learning
    (UDL) to guide every session

    We’re also firm believers in
    Rita Pierson’s relational wisdom

Underpinning everything we do is something just as important as phonics or comprehension: social and emotional learning.

What does this mean? Well, every lesson teaches more than reading and writing. They build confidence alongside competence. They’re enjoyable and engaging. They teach a student to set goals, reflect on their progress and celebrate how far they’ve come. They let them feel safe enough to take risks, seen enough to believe in themselves and strong enough to keep going – even when it’s hard.

All this adds up to creating confident communicators. This isn’t just a buzzword we bandy around to sound good. It’s the result of our teaching – a child who can explain their thinking, back up their ideas and expertly wield language like the powerful tool it is.

    HOW WE TEACH ONLINE

Teaching effectively online is an artform – one that our experienced teachers have full mastery of.

Because there’s no elbow-to-elbow proximity, or quiet reassurance while you hand them a pencil. You have to be fully aware of all the signals, verbal and non-verbal, and ready to respond.

We know how to reach a child through a screen. So when their camera tilts down and they go quiet, we notice. When they use phrases like “I can’t” or “This is probably wrong”, we lean in. When their body stiffens before starting the task, we shift the task – not the standard.

We adjust in the moment, but without dropping expectations. Because we’re the ‘warm demanders’ who know what our students are capable of, and want them to believe in their potential.
