In the UK, there’s currently no legal requirement for private tutors to be qualified teachers, DBS checked or trained in safeguarding.  This means many tutoring platforms allow almost anyone to sign up and start teaching – students, recent grads, freelancers – without proven experience or oversight. JOROJack is pushing back against this!

We don’t just let anyone teach!

Every teacher must:

Hold a recognised teaching qualification

(PGCE, B.ED, QTS/QTLS or Equivalent)

Have at least 5+ years of classroom experience
Pass an Enhanced DBS check and register with the DBS Update Service
Submit verified ID and complete a Right to Work declaration
Undergo
safeguarding training
and sign our Safeguarding & Code of Conduct agreement
Complete a structured interview and demo lesson
Submit two professional references from past school leaders or colleagues

Because UK tutoring law is too lax, and we don’t trust ‘good enough’ when it comes to children’s education, we also created our own in-house professional credential.

The JOROJack Teacher Certification shows that a teacher is not just qualified, but also aligned with our standards of literacy expertise, pedagogy and ethical practice.
